Songs for Children

It seems reasonable that writing children’s music should’ve figured more in my songwriting history. I enjoy good children’s music, and appreciate songwriters who take that craft seriously to write up, not down, to children’s budding musical tastes and appetites. In the early 90s in Nashville, I was writing dialog and music for a children’s audio-drama project. It got cut, but some of those songs were published. It was enough to whet my appetite for the complex simplicity of writing good children’s songs. After all, if it is a good song for children, it should also be a good song for adults.
